Brockton, MA W/F Madrid SQ 3/28

Engine 3 was dispatched to alarms sounding at 16:05 with a Box Alarm transmitted one minute later as the FAO started receiving calls for a fire in the building. Box 3353 was sent bringing Engine 3, Squad A, Engine 7, Ladder 1 under Command of Car 56 Deputy Davis. Engine 3 arrived and reported smoke showing and stretched a line thur the "C" side door. Ladder 1 which was on a public service call nearby went to the "A" side where they had heavy fire from the 3 floor and a report of someone trapped on the balconey. A ground ladder was thrown and members reached the person as heavy fire surrounded him. The person was taken over the ladder and removed to safety. Deputy arrived and ordered a Working Fire with Engine 5 as RIT and Ladder 4 along with several Medic Units responding. Members of Squad A stretched a 2 1/2" handline and knocked down the overlapping fire. They continued to streched another handline via the interior stairway to the fire apartment and quickly knocked down the remaining fire and searched for any other victims. Crews checked for extension in other apartment and found none.
